Educational Disclaimer

Effective March 2026

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY

Pathfinders is an educational self-advocacy tool. It is not a law firm, not a Veterans Service Organization, and not affiliated with the Department of Veterans Affairs. Nothing on this platform constitutes legal advice.

Nature of Service

Pathfinders is an AI-powered educational tool that helps veterans understand the VA disability claims process. We provide guidance based on publicly available VA regulations, including Title 38 of the Code of Federal Regulations (38 CFR), the M21-1 Adjudication Manual, and provisions of the PACT Act.

Our service helps veterans organize their information, understand rating criteria, identify evidence gaps, and prepare for the claims process. We do not take any action on your behalf with the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Not Legal Advice

Nothing on the Pathfinders platform constitutes legal advice. Specifically:

  • We are not attorneys and do not practice law
  • We are not a Veterans Service Organization (VSO)
  • We are not accredited by the Department of Veterans Affairs
  • We do not represent veterans before the VA or any other government agency
  • Our AI-generated strategies are educational guidance, not legal opinions

No Guarantee of Outcomes

We cannot and do not guarantee any specific claim outcome, disability rating, or benefit amount. VA decisions are made solely by the Department of Veterans Affairs based on their review of your evidence, medical examinations, and applicable regulations. Our analysis provides an educational assessment based on publicly available rating criteria, but the VA's decision may differ from our estimated ratings.

AI Limitations

Our AI analysis is based on the information you provide and the VA regulations in our knowledge base. Important limitations include:

  • AI can make mistakes in interpreting regulations or your service history
  • Our knowledge base may not reflect the most recent regulatory changes
  • The quality of analysis depends on the accuracy and completeness of your input
  • AI cannot replace the judgment of a qualified attorney or medical professional

Always verify important information with an accredited VSO or attorney before making decisions about your claim.

When to Seek Professional Help

While Pathfinders is designed to handle many common claim scenarios, some cases benefit from professional legal representation. We recommend consulting an accredited VA attorney or VSO if your situation involves:

  • Appeals of previously denied claims
  • Total Disability based on Individual Unemployability (TDIU)
  • Section 1151 claims (VA medical malpractice)
  • Discharge upgrades or character of discharge reviews
  • Multiple previously denied conditions
  • Military Sexual Trauma (MST) claims
  • Complex Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) cases

Regulatory Citations

Our AI cites provisions from 38 CFR, the M21-1 Adjudication Manual, and the PACT Act throughout its analysis. These citations are provided for educational reference only and may not reflect the most recent regulatory amendments. Regulations are subject to change, and the VA's interpretation of regulations may differ from the plain text. Always confirm current regulations through official VA sources or legal counsel.
