A TOOL FOR ACCREDITED PROFESSIONALS

Pathfinders is a research and case-prep platform licensed to accredited VA claims representatives. It is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice. Representation, where offered, is a separate engagement with an accredited professional.

The Platform Is a Research Tool, Not Legal Advice

The Pathfinders platform (the general-information chat assistant, the Research Desk regulations research tool, the compensation estimator, and the case-prep engine) is a research and case-prep tool for accredited representatives. It presents the governing law and the record so the accredited expert forms and executes strategy themselves. It is not legal advice and not a strategy generator. The regulated act of legal judgment stays with the accredited human.

  • Using the platform does not create an attorney-client or representative-client relationship with CODEXr.
  • The platform surfaces general information and regulatory references; the accredited representative is responsible for any strategy and advice given to the veteran client.
  • CODEXr is not the veteran client's attorney or accredited representative by virtue of providing the software.

Accredited Representation (Appeals Services)

Separately from the software, CODEXr's accredited claims agents (or, when appropriate, a vetted partner attorney firm) may offer to represent a veteran on a VA appeal. Representation begins only when a written engagement agreement is signed. The disclosures and rules that govern any representation are in that engagement agreement, not this page.

Inside a representation engagement, the platform functions as the accredited agent's research and drafting tool — comparable to how a lawyer uses Westlaw or document automation. The accredited agent reviews and adopts the work as their professional product.

No Guarantee of Outcomes

We cannot and do not guarantee any specific claim outcome, disability rating, or benefit amount. VA decisions are made solely by the Department of Veterans Affairs based on their review of your evidence, medical examinations, and applicable regulations. Our analysis provides an educational assessment based on publicly available rating criteria, but the VA's decision may differ from our estimated ratings.

AI Limitations

Our AI analysis is based on the information you provide and the VA regulations in our knowledge base. Important limitations include:

  • AI can make mistakes in interpreting regulations or your service history
  • Our knowledge base may not reflect the most recent regulatory changes
  • The quality of analysis depends on the accuracy and completeness of your input
  • AI cannot replace the judgment of a qualified attorney or medical professional

Always verify important information with an accredited VSO or attorney before making decisions about your claim.

When to Seek Professional Help

While Pathfinders is designed to handle many common claim scenarios, some cases benefit from professional legal representation. We recommend consulting an accredited VA attorney or VSO if your situation involves:

  • Appeals of previously denied claims
  • Total Disability based on Individual Unemployability (TDIU)
  • Section 1151 claims (VA medical malpractice)
  • Discharge upgrades or character of discharge reviews
  • Multiple previously denied conditions
  • Military Sexual Trauma (MST) claims
  • Complex Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) cases

Regulatory Citations

Our AI cites provisions from 38 CFR, the M21-1 Adjudication Manual, and the PACT Act throughout its analysis. These citations are provided for educational reference only and may not reflect the most recent regulatory amendments. Regulations are subject to change, and the VA's interpretation of regulations may differ from the plain text. Always confirm current regulations through official VA sources or legal counsel.
